Sandralee's Adventures in San Antonio, Day EIGHTEEN!

Today is Monday and another day at the In-home Daycare. Seeing all these kids has been really good therapy for me. It makes me appreciate the fact that I am NOT a mother! Just kidding, moms! Your kids are AWESOME! *said with fingers and toes crossed* LMBO! ;) Seriously, each child is unique and keeps me entertained! I was helping Ethan with his homework after school and he was having a difficult time concentrating, so I decided to videotape him. As soon as he saw me recording, he started doing his Math homework and acting like he had been doing it all along! That was too funny! As the afternoon came to a close and all kids were picked up, the BBQ began. Jenn decided to have Jr. BBQ for the Spurs Game. The Spurs played against the Phoenix Suns. My friend Daryl came over and we were playing with Ethan and Espen for a bit. The boys had a wrestling match. Ethan was 'John Cena from the Valley' and Espen was 'Benny the Jet Wodriguez (Rodriguez)' The winner was obviously the older and much heavier John Cena but I winked at Ethan as I PROCLAIMED Espen aka 'Benny the Jet WWWWodriguez' the winner! Ethan understood and said he knew he REALLY was the winner! *wink wink* ;) We made some little bunnies, puppies and Mexican food for Daryl from Play-Doh. The boys had fun messing with Daryl. Well, I 'egged' them on and told them to say certain things to him! lol! I made some Pollo con Arroz, Tortillas and Orchata from Play-Doh for Daryl. IF he ever travels to the Valley, he will get a taste of REAL Mexican Food. The food was excellent! Jr. made some Chicken, Sausage and Pork Ribs. Jenn made DELICIOUS rice and Dill Potato Salad. I called it her 'white woman' Salad (No offense to my Anglo friends). It was actually delicious! Thanks Misty for being fresh Dill from work! I actually only watched the game up to half time since Daryl left then. My allergy medication kicked in and I was OUT!!!!! Overall, another quiet day in San Antonio. Kids, friends/family, BBQ and the Spurs playing!!! What else could one ask for? Good times in San Antonio!

Sandralee's Adventures in San Antonio, Day SEVENTEEN!

I slept in until NOON today!!!! That Allergy Medication WHOOPED my buttocks!!! Lol! ;) I awoke to a quiet house. The only other person in the house was Deandra. I asked her where everybody was at, and she said they had gone to breakfast. I remember waking up at 9 am, going potty and telling myself I was going to lay down for just a little bit longer. I remember seeing Jenn in her PJ's and Ethan talking to her, but it was all fuzzy. The next thing you know is I wake up, look at my cell phone and it's NOON! I take a shower, get dressed and call Jenn to see what they are up to. She says they are coming home in a bit. I made myself some breakfast, some more CHORIZO and egg tacos and got back into my PJ's. Ended up cleaning the kitchen and putting away ALL the dishes, leaving the counter tops spic and span! ;) I told Deandra to clean the bathroom and the living room. Just a little tidy up since we were home with NADA (nothing) to do! ;) Spent the afternoon catching up on some blogging, applying for College and etc. Then we went to Simple Simon's Pizza for dinner with the family. ANOTHER quiet day for me! Just took some more Allergy Medication, so I am getting DROWSY!!! Just checked in with my mother to say hello and see how the family is doing back home. Everyone is doing fine, thank God! I am once again signing off after a SHORT posting! Boring, but quiet and simple! Just like I want it at this point in my life!

Sandralee's Adventures in San Antonio, Day SIXTEEN!

Saturday in San Antonio finds us going to the BBQ Fundraiser for Espen's T-Ball Team at St. Dominic's Catholic Basement. The men were outside at the grill since 6:30 am. Upon arriving at the Church Basement, we came across the Team Mom and a couple of other team member's mothers. I introduced myself as Espen's Aunt visiting from the Rio Grande Valley and settled in to assist in any way I could. We served the BBQ plates with Chicken, Sausage, Beans, Rice, Potato Salad, Bread, Cutlery (fork, knife, napkin, salt and pepper in a plastic sleeve) and Jalapenos on the side for people who like a little zing with their meal! (I do!) ;) We started serving at 10:30 am until 2:00 pm or a little after. Once the shyness wore off, (I can be SHY at times) we settled into a comfortable working environment. I added the cutlery and 2 pieces of bread onto the plates as other moms added the food. We had MANY plates served and ready when people started trickling in to pick up their plates. Having a BBQ is a huge responsibility and the Team Mom, Alicia is very young and had no previous experience with a fundraiser. Once I told her I GREW up with our church having fundraisers ALL of the time, she relied on my 'expertise' on little things. When we were at T-ball practice, she had asked Jenn for 5 pounds of potato salad. I told Alicia that would not be enough. She asked another person to bring more. At the Fundraiser she told everyone that she thought 5 pounds of Potato Salad would be a big amount. It turned out to be one huge bowl, NOT nearly enough for 20-25 plates! We ALL live and learn! The afternoon in San Antonio was AWESOME! It was sunny and nice! Overall, everyone pitched in and the BBQ was a success. That afternoon, I started feeling a little woozy. I was OUT for the count the rest of the day. I took some allergy medication and I was knocked OUT! Jenn invited me to go out with them, but I told her to go out on a date with her man. I stayed home with the kids after Jr. brought home some Mexican food and just rested. Ethan and I were sitting in the living room watching the Tinker Bell Movie. Well, I was on Facebook and he was playing his PSP! I had a really good night's sleep. It seems like I slept FOREVER! I felt like Sleeping Beauty, except I woke up with spiky, wild hair and eye boogies!! lol! There was no Prince Charming to kiss me awake and take me to his Castle far far away in a distant land! ;) Just a good night's sleep and rest for my body! Fight that congestion, runny nose, itchy eyes and sore throat! Sorry there was no wild action or late night parties!!! Just a small town girl enjoying some quiet time! Thus was my WILD day in San Antonio! lol! ;) BBQ, time with Ethan and watching the back of my eyelids for a LONG time as I slept! ;) How utterly quaint and just what I need at this time in my life! Gives me time to reflect and make proper decisions, when ALL is quiet in my life!

Sandralee's Adventures in San Antonio, Day FIFTEEN!

GRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ALLERGIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WAKING UP WITH ALLERGIES AND GOING TO SLEEP WITH ALLERGIES....... SUCKS! ALL OF THIS RAGWEED, POLLEN AND ETC IN SAN ANTONIO HAS REALLY MESSED WITH THIS VALLEY GIRL'S SYSTEM! :( TODAY WAS ANOTHER QUIET DAY. HELPED OUT AT THE DAYCARE FOR A LITTLE BIT. THE KIDS ARE EACH UNIQUE AND HAVE SUCH PERSONALITY, EVEN AT SUCH A YOUNG AGE! ESTABLISHING LEADERSHIP, INTERACTING WITH ONE ANOTHER, AND USING THEIR COMMUNICATION SKILLS IS SUCH A JOY TO WATCH! EXCEPT WHEN THEY OPEN UP THEIR LUNGS/AIRWAYS AND LET THAT SHRILL SCREAM COME OUT!!! YIKES! SHRILL ENOUGH TO MAKE MY EARS BLEED! ;) DIDN'T DO MUCH TODAY, THE FAMILY WENT TO DINNER AT WING STOP. YUM! WING STOP IS YUMMY! WE HAVE A BBQ FUNDRAISER FOR ESPEN'S T-BALL TEAM TOMORROW. HAVING TO BE UP EARLY ON A SATURDAY IS HARD, BUT IT'S FOR A GOOD CAUSE! NOTHING EXCITING OR EARTH SHATTERING HAPPENED TODAY, HENCE THE SHORT POST! ;)

Sandralee's Adventures in San Antonio, Day FOURTEEN!

Today is Thursday and I was supposed to leave on Sunday. Realizing that I have yet to accomplish a few things, I decided to extend my visit another week. I spent all day doing laundry. I did three loads, but it took a while since I had to start the dryer twice for each load. We went to baseball/T-ball practice with the boys and then came home. We came home in time to watch the SPURS play! Gooooooooooooooooo Spurs! The final score? 97-87!!! Spurs beat the Mavs! ;) While I was sitting here watching the game, Ethan came up to me and said the darndest thing!Out of the blue, he came up to me and said, 'Duh Duh when you die, I will NEVER forget you!' My eyes flew to the back of my head and them the world went black! AFTER I picked myself up off the floor and composed myself I asked, 'Why did you say that, Ethan?' He looks at me with complete seriousness and sincerity as he replies, 'Because I love you and you will always be in my heart!' He said this as he started thumping on his chest over his heart. I always say that I love people and I pat my heart to signify how much I love them. I am quite sure that's where he picked that up from! I tend to get goofy and be extra melodramatic!!! The sincerity and obvious LOVE behind his declaration meant everything to me, but KID don't try to be placing me 6 ft under ANY time soon! ;) That took my breath away! Right after that I got a text from my friend, Janie. The text said, 'ASPIRE to INSPIRE before you EXPIRE!!!' WHAT THE HECK!!! SHEESHKABOB! Today was another quiet day, just like I like them! Well, the in-home daycare kids were a little rowdy, but I survived! ;) I notified all mommies that the daycare was closed until further notice! lol! ;)Overall, day fourteen in San Antonio was good!

Sandralee's Adventures in San Antonio, Day THIRTEEN!

Today is Wednesday and the count down has begun until I go back home to the Valley on Sunday. Still feeling the sore throat, headache and a little congestion. Didn't do anything in particular today. I helped wash the lunch dishes for my friend Jenn's In-Home Daycare. I've done her dishes before, but today I reflected on how hard it is to wash the Sippie/Toddler cups. Every single cup or glass has a lid, attachment, straw, gadget, gizmo or chingadera like I mentioned on my Facebook status. Before you can wash them, you have to take them apart and then the hard part is to put them back together! For those who do NOT know, you can TELL I am NOT a mother! I am a mother in my heart having miscarried five babies, but actual day to day living from birth to adult hood has yet to be experienced! Which brings to mind the time Ethan was a baby. I was making mijo a bottle and dumped the contents of the measured baby formula into it. I fed him the bottle and was content that I had done a great job. Jenn came home and was washing the dishes when she noticed the bottle I had made for Ethan. She asked me what measured container I had poured into the bottle. Ummmmmm, it turned out to be the cereal one. All I gave him was cereal water, and no formula! No wonder the formula wasn't mixing well! Jenn forgave me and allowed me to keep caring for Ethan! ;) Poor baby! He turned out just fine! He's seven now! ;) Should be going out for a bit tonight. Will be back to update the blog! Ended up going to dinner at Cici's with Bettina and her family. I met Bettina when I moved to San Antonio two years ago. My friend Daryl picked me up and we headed to Cici's near 1604 and Shaenefield. Isaiah and Bella ran to me and hugged me tight. Isaiah remembered Daryl and said hello. Daryl was the one who got Isaiah to shoot me with a dart gun one time. They laughed as I yelped in pain! ;) Then the little Princess, my baby Iris ran to me! She hugged me, kissed me and laid her head on my shoulder! She is just too adorable! Bettina, Javier and Iris traveled from San Antonio to the Rio Grande Valley for Josiah's funeral. It was an honor they did that for me and baby Josiah. Iris was exactly who I needed to see when I was grieving. Her hugs and kisses made the grief subside, even for just a moment! It was a nice dinner. It was Bettina, Javier, Javier Jr, Isaiah, Bella, Iris, Bettina's mom Mari, her step dad Dennis, Daryl and myself. Iris kept coming up to me and showing me her Dinosaur toys. I was trying to get her to pose for pictures and she would squeeze her eyes shut! I did get one good picture of her with her eyes open! It was awesome to see Bettina and the family again! Iris is just toooo adorable! It was a grand evening! Like Daryl said, Good kids and Good people! I told him that's what life is all about! AMEN and good night! ;)

Sandralee's Adventures in San Antonio, Day TWELVE!

Today is a BLAH day! :( My throat hurts and I do not feel well at all. I stayed at Jenn's all day just relaxing. The boys had T-ball and baseball practice so the family went to the ball park. I did have a RASPA, which I had been craving forever! A RASPA is a Snow-Cone! I had the PASSION FRUIT flavored! It was yummy! We came home, Jr. brought Bill Miller's and then we watched the Spurs Game. MY personal opinion is that Najera was playing dirty and took a cheap shot at Tony Parker. Nobody can prove if it was done intentionally or not. So, each to their own opinion! Please be nice if you like the MAVS!!! ;) Yes, the Mavs won this game! :( That was the extent of my whole day! Just relaxing and trying to get better. I really think it was a touch of food poisoning or something. The sore throat and headaches can be attributed to allergies with all the ragweed and etc in San Antonio. Thus ends my QUIET 12th day in San Antonio!
